Marchegiani: "Fonseca starts with a handicap, he was not the first choice"
The former Lazio goalkeeper spoke on the arrival of the new Portuguese coach
"The Biancocelesti players are used to playing in a certain way, it won't be easy to change"
Former Lazio goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani spoke to TMW Radio about the arrival of the new Portuguese coach, Paulo Fonseca. "Fonseca starts with a handicap, he was not the first choice," Marchegiani said. "The Biancocelesti players are used to playing in a certain way, it won't be easy to change."
Marchegiani also said that he hopes Fonseca will be able to bring success to Lazio. "I hope he can do well, but I think it will be difficult for him to do better than Inzaghi," Marchegiani said. "Inzaghi did a great job, and he left Lazio in a good position. Fonseca will have to work hard to improve on what Inzaghi achieved."
Fonseca was appointed as Lazio's new coach on June 11, 2019. He signed a two-year contract with the club. Fonseca is a former coach of Shakhtar Donetsk and Braga. He is known for his attacking style of play.
Lazio finished fourth in Serie A last season. They also won the Coppa Italia. Fonseca will be hoping to lead Lazio to more success in the 2019-20 season.
