Indiana Pacers Release Preseason Roster

2023 Regular Season to Start October 19

Pacers Media Relations Department Releases Roster of 20 Players

The Indiana Pacers have released their preseason roster for the 2023-24 season. The roster includes 20 players, including 12 returning players and 8 newcomers. The Pacers will begin their preseason schedule on October 3 and will play six games before opening the regular season at home against the Washington Wizards on October 19.

The Pacers are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished 25-57 and missed the playoffs. The team made several changes in the offseason, including hiring a new head coach, Rick Carlisle, and trading away several key players. The Pacers are hoping that the changes will help them return to contention this season.

One of the biggest changes for the Pacers this season is the addition of Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton was acquired in a trade with the Sacramento Kings in February and quickly became one of the Pacers' best players. He averaged 17.5 points, 9.6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game in 26 games with the Pacers. Haliburton is expected to be the Pacers' starting point guard this season and will be counted on to lead the team's offense.

The Pacers also added several other key players in the offseason, including Jalen Smith, Andrew Nembhard, and Kendall Brown. Smith is a 6-foot-10 center who averaged 13.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the Phoenix Suns last season. Nembhard is a 6-foot-3 point guard who averaged 7.7 points and 5.5 assists per game for the Gonzaga Bulldogs last season. Brown is a 6-foot-8 forward who was selected by the Pacers with the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Brown averaged 14.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the Baylor Bears last season.

The Pacers are hoping that the addition of these new players will help them return to contention this season. The team has a lot of young talent, and if they can stay healthy, they could be a surprise team in the Eastern Conference.
